  • We've begun...

    ...to build the chicken run that is! Got most of the framework in today, hope to get this completed with hen house by tomorrow, with mesh panels by thurs, pick up chooks by Fri! Very exciting!!!!

            oooo ooooo ooooo can somebody find the link please? I'd forgotten about that one and it'd be good to resurrect it for the newbies (as well as the oldies) who might want to "do something" in this miserable weather You can't have too many coops

              Very exciting - remember if you are going to paint the coop wth a preservative it needs time to dry out properly before the chooks arrive

                    Thanks for the link I've bookmarked it now. I thought it might come in handy for if I ever have a broody hen who'd need a bit of her own space - could call it a maternity wing

                        Hi guys, been busy the past 2 days, the run is complete, 48' square foot in total, started work on the hen house inside the run, will try and post piccies 2moro

                            I wish to register a complaint!!! HOW long has it taken you to build this run? My chooks were in a series of temporary runs for weeks while OH mucked about making the large one. Do you think I should trade him in for a faster model?
                            Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

                              Be very thankful he does it at all! I have to book my OH for ANY allotment jobs and then it's with great reluctance! He subscribes to the "Gardens were made to be swept" school of gardening - as long as someone else does the sweeping of course!
