Some do, some don't. All my ex-batts stand and have a look, then when they feel too wet they'll go and shelter under the hedge or the patio table. The Welsummers all go back into the coop till it's either stopped or they get hungry, and the Bluebelles are so thick, they stand out in it getting absolutely drenched and looking miserable till Basil stamps his feet then the girls will shelter but not him!
My girls found their way into my heart and now they nest there

One time mine huddled up against a wall when they had access to the coop and 2 shelters....got really wet , and when I threw food into the coop they rushed in and stayed there...clearly not the brightest buttons eh???

Yep drowned rats - they have houses and half teh run is covered and half open but they still get wet

They also seem to gravitate towards any mud there may be and get covered in it!

Yep, ours stand out in the rain, they do go indoors for shade though when it's hot.... I think it's happened twice since we got them.
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

Mine have a shelter under the house where the feeder hangs (keeps the food dry at least) but they stand about in the rain like - well, wet hens! - daft aren't they? We are off to the DIY place soon to order stuff to cover the run. I can't stand looking at the poor little dripping souls!

If they've got an inside area AND an outside area why deprive them of choice? Even I like to stand in the rain now and again! Unless they are on hard standing I imagine the land would go sour if deprived of a good soaking now and again?

Mine stay out in the rain, but I have tarp over one half of the run so they have a choice to get less wet.

Last summer I went down to see them and the rain came down so hard I sheltered in their shed. One by one they all came in to see what I was doing, sitting on a bale of straw. They all started perching and went to sleep as it got quite cosy in there. I'm not entirely sure I didn't drop off myself to be honest!!!
