Could be a slow developer, could be a hen, could be one of those undecided types......
Neck feathers look a bit 'masculine' (as far as you can tell from a photo, which isn't very far) but otherwise looks much more like a girl!
Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.

Actually looks like a hen to me Dave. I have a younger LS male whose legs are far longer and looks definitely "cocky". Judging by the colour of her comb, she's not far off lay either - lucky you!

I too found it difficult to decide whether I had two L/S pullets or one of each. One was definitely a female but the other looked just like yours. He is definitely a cockerel!

Only way to tell for sure is to put him/her in with a group of hens. At this age, if he is male, his hormones should start rising pretty quickly being with the females and he should start exhibiting "cocky" behaviour, including crowing.

looks a lot like my LS bantam hen. Her comb is large compared to my other (hybrid) hens, and she is a very noisy girl too.

I reckon a hen! My LS cockerel is 24 weeks and this is him at 18 weeks! He's looked like this for six weeks at least!

If not yours is a 'Boy George'!

btw my LS hen started laying at 20 weeks!

I'm erring towards hen too, LS are the type of breed that are fully developed by this time just need to grow in size - most are laying now or there abouts 18 - 20 weeks is average POL for LS especially with the current length of day!

Urrmmmm...I'd say a hen from the legs and tail..some of us girlies have a bit more 'up top' than others!!!!

..I can see that you might think a laddie from the comb etc though

I know where you're coming from Dave........I hatched 7 eggs, 6 of which were cockerels. Managed to whittle them down to 3 but will only get rid of any more if I get complaints from neighbours! I was kinda hoping one of these was a hen, but it recently started crowing!

If it's any help, I looked at the picture before reading the posts, and my first thought was 'looks like a girl to me!'

No help? I didn't think so...
