  • Gone to Chooky Heaven

Sadly my ex-batt Tilly has gone off to the big chicken coop in the sky this afternoon.
She was unwell about 3 months ago, however came back from that and was laying quite well 3-4 a week. The eggs all had a dent in one side where the shell was rough or thin.
On Friday noticed she was "waddling" and felt quite a gross swelling all round her abdomen. This has got worse over the weekend though she has been eating and drinking and out scratching and eating worms even this morning.
By lunchtime she had adopted the "penguin" stance so I rushed her off to the vet who felt as I did that there was little to be done so she was quietly put to sleep.
She's had 20 months of freedom and being a proper happy chicken so I felt this was the most dignified finale for her.
    R.I.P. Tilly

Oh, sorry to hear about Tilly . 20 Months freedom was a great way for her to forget her year 'inside.'

Sorry to hear that. 20 Months is a good innings for an ex-batt, considering what they've gone through.
