Does look like my Black Rock but I guess it could be anything Copper Black! Any clues? What's it supposed to be?

does it have feathery bits on its legs - bit like fluff rather than full blown feathers? If so its a maran, but it does also look black rock like

Looks exactly like the immature one of my Copper Marans (Marans Cuivre). Just to confuse things though, as I now have 4 of them - two have feathery legs/feet and two do not. The two pairs came from two different places, so I guess it depends on their lineage?

Scatty beggars, but very pretty though!

Edited to add - I'd guess it's female.

this one is very flighty half expect it to fly off. The maran theory may have some truth to it as one of the other is deffo a maran

Looks exactly like my Coco, who is a Copper black Marans cockerel. The colours are identical, as are the legs. The cockerels develop the copper colouring on their backs too - I think technically called the saddle feathers - and the black bits have a greener sheen. Girls just have copper on their heads and the black bits are a dark, coal-black.

Young black rocks do look like that, but until it grows up a bit more, it's all guess work!
Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.
