  • egg with blood in ?

    Hi all I noticed today when i cracked open an egg layed this morning there was a small bit of blood in it Kinda like what you get in 2 days when incubating 'but only one . Should i be worried about her ??? she seems fine as always

    nope, pingu did that, the next day her egg had a lot of blood in, she didn't lay for a couple of days then was fine xxx

        Should be fine, just keep an eye on her. Been told you can eat, however, I don't.
        Never test the depth of the water with both feet

          Hehe abit late... iv eaten it Just like most of us here i hate to waste 'still have to say i did have to force it down even though it tasted great

            braver than me lol, I hate waste, so I scramble and feed back to the chooks

                  As with anything chooky there are a million and 1 reasons why this occurs - However, the most common cause is a ruptured blood vessel you may find that your eggs will be like this for a couple of days whilst it reheals itself - there is actually no harm to either you or the bird and you can eat it if you want it is only blood, it is also perfectly safe to feed back to the birds your dog or whatever else you want to feed eggs to. Some types of birds are more suseptable and it is a more common incidence in older birds - however not exclusive to.

                    mine was about the 5th and 6th egg from pingu but shes never layed one since like that, think it was just her system settling down
