Well I'm afraid we were too chicken('scuse the pun)to do the sensible thing.
It was a combination of the kiddies pleading with us not to,a couple of local breeders who've done it in the past with mixed success, one of them said he'd prbably not even try it as Boo is a different colour to the chicks that Dandelion already has.
So!We have two options.I've found a lady with two spare Brahma Bantams that are just a couple of days older,or a chap who will let us take just one but it's almost a week older.
If we were to go with the second & just get one, should the age difference be too much of an issue?
Would I be better off making a few more phonecalls to find one the same age?

As for Boo...tis worse than having a new born!
Fine if we're out of the room, but as soon as it senses I'm anywhere near cheeps persistently until I give in & give a cuddle!Hopefully by the end of the day we'll have found a lil chum for her(im).
Wish I was in a position to post a pic...really is the cutest lil thing!
the fates lead him who will;him who won't they drag.

Happiness is not having what you want, but wanting what you have.xx

      Whatever you decide good luck.
My mummy hen tells her babies that I am the big bad wolf and when I try to have a cuddle she and they make such a fuss you would think I was going to bite their heads off!

Well Boo has a little friend.
Not totally sure of what it is...deffo Dark Brahma possibly crossed with Buff Orpington.
My worry that the few extra days old it is were unfounded.Boo's letting it know straight away who's the boss...poor little thing is obviously feeling a little anxious being out of it's big box with big flock of siblings, keeps trying to cuddle up to Boo who gives it a little peck & then looks at us as if to say "whatever is it?"!
Sure by bedtime they'll be best of buddies & Boo will hopefully accept (s)he's a little chick & not a human!
I might even be allowed to sit without picking her up every five minutes!
The thing that made me laugh the most today/yesterday was how,as kiddies seem to know also,Boo tended to sense when I was on the phone & start really loud "Get me out" cheeps.

Hopefully this is the end of the stress & trauma & I can report a Happy ending!
        Cheers again everyone...you're a great bunch!xx

Mine do that. Although I did get them to take some treats from my hand yesterday. Can't pick them up, they go mad!

Thank goodness. I thought it was me. They will eat from my hand but picking them up is hard work. Fortunately my DH is quite fit as they all have to be picked up from broody coop and put in run on the lawn every day, then back to the coop every evening. It gets harder every day.

Hope Boo settles with his/her little friend.

              Great to hear Di!

Hopefully it will be a hen and then it'll be worth the hassle.
