The holiday was great, thanks! Sunday was definitely the highlight!

Our 'lodge' was a little on the basic side - and totally lacking anything resembling a sharp knife! Not the usual club la costa standard - but then it is an affiliated site, not fully owned by them.

We went to Dolgathy (sp?) gold mine, drove around the beacons, met Mum and Dad at Brecon Cathedral and had a really good pub lunch in Penycae, I got to go garden hoping on Friday without the brood - very nice!

Came back nice and relaxed to two hundred emails! And the Avon rep from hell... but that is another story.

Beautiful girls, Tpeers. It's really addictive this hen keeping game ,isn't it. I've gone from, yes, Id like more to no, my three are happy and manageable to -but I would really like a couple of unusual, very pretty hens. When I get organised, two more will be no trouble! OH doesn't venture up the Hen end of the garden anyway!! And the thought of maybe fertile eggs under a broody.... oooh, what to do!!

I'm in a good position re eggs as there is a caterer living at the end of the road who will take any and all spare eggs. So my girls pay for themselves. Currently demand is outstripping supply so getting more girls as I already had the room for them in the big ark (and they are currently in the small ark) it all made sense.

That said the new girls are between 12 and 18 weeks old - so a few weeks before I see any eggs from them.

I haven't seen a chicken I don't like yet (except naked necks - apologies to anyone who loves them!) Those 4 are beauties.

Me too on that, they just look wrong! Just like ex-batts when they're first released

Naked necks remind me of Vultures....

Quick question for all you bright people.

The chap I got the new girls from has clipped the wyandottes wings - both of them!

Am I right in remembering that she will still fly as the whole point of clipping is to unbalance the bird?

She'll still lose some lift and distance...

Hummm.... better be a bit careful of letting her loose in the garden then - the newbies aren't hand tame yet......
