  • Silkie Cockeral

I have just introduced a sixteen week old silkie cockeral with 3 bantams he's a bit bigger than them but one of them is giving a bit of a dusting. Have I put him in too early with the girls? Will he come into his own as I want him to breed. He has made a few miserable attempts at crowing recently but he is definatley down the pecking order

Stick with it, he will be fine in a couple of days. The presence of girls will get his hormones going and he'll soon be ruling the roost!

How is he today wdz? Don't expect miracles to happen straightaway - bantam girls can be little so and so's - but I'm sure he'll sort himself out.

Forgot to say, has he got plenty of space to escape them? Try putting a boxes or large logs in the pen so he has something to run round or jump onto to get away if he needs to - otherwise they will drive him into a corner.

Thanks Richmond he didnt want to come down this morning but that could be because he has never been in a house with a ramp to get in and out although he took himself up. He has plenty of room. He's also super friendly and is easily picked up.
