Got excited then, thought this thread was going to tell me where there was a hertfordshire auction, Redthorn! I've just been to Thornes- they have some lovely birds there but I resisted. Gotta get OH on the case and build my enclosed pen.

lol but I have an incubator and all..... all the local breeders around me are out of fertile eggs.... was hoping to find an auction around near us... If you find out let me know and we can meet up... perhaps we can twist Vikky, Jane and Hayley's( with CB of course) arms to join us

            ...fertile eggs...

            Hi RedThorn,

Thornes in Letchworth have hatching eggs as well as hybrids (and their pure breeds should be ready now too).

            They usually range from:

            Araucana
            Crested Cream Legbar
            Vowerk
            Brahmas
            Orpingtons
            Wyandottes

and I know that have bantams and silkies too...

            .......but I can't help with auctions....sorry.

Beware of poultry auctions!! Unless someone has super-glued your hands in your pockets you can get very carried away!
At our auction last Saturday I was so close to bidding on a pea-hen with four chicks. She went for £27!!! to the happy (or mazed) young man who got her! What would I have done with her!!!!!

Sorry Steve, I have just turned down 4 unwanted (spent) Hens. My Coop is a converted 6' x 4' shed and currently houses 19 small birds and 2 larger ones - it's FULL.
