Thankyou everyone...she is rather gorgeous, but as for becoming a house pet?I seem to remember from about three or four weeks the chooky smell takes over and by five or six you're desperate for them to be outside!
Although the preliminary reason for getting a lil chum was to keep her company in the early days, the long term plan is to pop them both with the others and I know it's far easier to introduce two to a flock. We'll wait until Dandelion is ready to leave her babies & thses two are feathered up enough to handle the big wide world.
I can't remember what age we did things with the last lot,but I know they had a gradual move to outside, starting off with a few days being outside during the warmer part of the day & gradually working up to being out all the time.
The main problem we're having at the minute is mouth pecking...might not hurt a mummy hen when their babes do what's natural, but she makes a beeline for my mouth & it blinkin' hurts!!!the fates lead him who will;him who won't they drag.
Happiness is not having what you want, but wanting what you have.xx

They are attracted to the lip movement and light glinting off your pearly whites! Same happened to me yesterday with one of our 8 week old VERY tame cream legbar cocks - ouch! My fault for holding him so close really. I always said the only cocks we would keep would be functional (ie for breeding) or fattening. I have a feeling we may end up with a few "pets" as well. Ho hum!

only in America!!! and I'm positive you are right mo - chicken couture just what the world needs fancy dress chickens.
I was shocked to see ferret couture in a local petshop recently - i'm quite sure my ferret could live without a rhinestone hoody and i know my chickens could too!
I have seen a penguin in a wetsuit though at the zoo!
