My sister tends the pheasants for a shoot. She says the yawning is accompanied by a clicking noise when they have gapeworm. Don't know if it's the same in chickens.

Apparently that is why it's not recommended to run pheasants on the same pasture as chooks as pheasants are prone to gapeworm and pass the infection to the chooks!

My sis lives in New Forest and doesn't have any chooks. I live in town so no pheasants. I was worried when one of my girls was yawning while sunbathing but sis thought there would be other symptoms such as the clicking noises the pheasants make.
