Part of me thinks yes...the sensible part!...but then the other part of me is considering a winter hatch too!
We know we can't keep our boys once they get really noisy, but would quite like to run one of our Cream Legbars with a few of our girls & see what results.Which would mean incubating them later than is desirable.
I guess the downside is that they'd need to be kept indoors for longer?
But then Richmondhens pointed out on another thread that chicks hatched now would be ready to lay come Spring.

Nah - never too late snadger hun.

Actually I find hatching now is good from a business point of view because everyone wants POL chickens easter time, and hatching now we have them. They will need heat for teh full 8 weeks though and then weaned and hardened off whereas in the summer we get away with heat for 5 weeks.

      what yah thinking of hatching?

I'm half-and-half thinking about hatching more but I've got to make the decision one way or another this week. I'm thinking about the keeping them in the house for longer bit, and do I really want my conservatory to smell of chicken poo? But I'm also thinking of having some POL's ready for next Spring ....................... oh dear, decisions decisions!

Hold that thought, think it through properly, all the pros and cons (says me who couldn't make a sensible decision to save her life!)

Think how much fun you could have making their indoor home look all fit for the festive season!

Snadger.... where's the fun in taking the easy route?
