I'm intrigued by the use of pallets in the chicken run, don't they fall through the gaps or are you doing something to them???

Mine are on soil and use combination of straw and Hemcore in the nest box and coop and put either one of those down when it gets really wet and muddy under foot. Glad you're all talking about this as I needed to stock up with just these two items so dropped in to Titmuss suppliers nr Wheathampstead on way home. Got the third degree from woman on the counter when I asked for these things for my chickens: she said they were spoiled chickens!! Made me feel like I didn't know what I was doing.Gardening forever- housework wheneverComment
