Guys, thank you all for your kind words and PM's.
I had said I wouldn't mention anything publicly, but I will just this once, and may explain if I just drop off radar for a while.

My nephew's cancer has returned and in lots of places. He is very poorly, and all we can do now is make sure he is pain free and support each other as much as we can. All the family know now, and I couldn't say anything before then, and this is all I will say. We don't know if anything can be done that will help yet, but the latest developments have been a huge blow.
A link to his blog is below if you would like to have a read and see for yourself what a great guy he is. He is an inspiration and has played every card dealt to him with a quiet dignity and grace you don't expect to find in a 19 year old, never mind a lad.

    Thank you all xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

The reamining chooks will be going to live with my mum for a bit, while things get sorted out re: the allotment land etc.

Kirsty, just had a look at the blog link, I sit here with tears in my eyes writing this. I don't know you really or your family, but you're in my thoughts as well as that handsome young man, can't say much more. Take care xxxxx

Kirsty, sympathy for you on all counts.
Think the chooks were one straw too many, dont beat yourself up about it, Mr Fox is a right B.....d and if you were on his list he'd get to you anyway.

Your nephew sounds lovely and I can only wish him the best, although thats pretty inadequate really
        hugs n x

Wow, what a brave young man, what a horrendous thing to be happening to him, I don't mind admitting I'm in bit's and I don't know him, what you and your family must be going through I can only imagine, It's make other things fade into insignificance. I send my love to you and your family. xx

Kirsty, I'm so sorry to hear what you're going through. I've sat here for about 10 minutes staring at this screen wondering what to say, but can't find the words.

              Thinking of you, Hon xx

Been to see Brad today, he is more himself, but very tired as he gets used to pain meds, but docs say that will pass soon and he will be more awake soon.

                        GOOD NEWS ABOUTA GIRL!!
Yesterday I found one of my chooks (a 6th I included in the casualty list cos I thought she wouldn't make it)
Went down today, they are all a bit more perky and gobbled up their food. The sixth, I had just put in a warm corner yesterday cos I thought she wouldn't make it and I just couldn't bring myself to 'do the deed', cowardly I know. This morning she managed to get to her feet and totter to the water trough. I think one leg is hurt, but no open cuts and not broken, and she has a wound where it looks as though her tail feathers were ripped out. I am going to treat the cut with antiseptic, and contact the vet and see if he will give me a broad spectrum anti-b for her if appropriate and just give her lots of TLC and rest. She was very thirsty, so I left water very close by, and she had a peck at food.
Will see how she does over next couple of days, but she was brighter and opening her eyes today. Heres hoping

That's good news on both fronts! I read your blog ages ago, so was very sad to hear that things had taken a turn for the worse recently. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you and Brad and the Chooks too.

I'm probably the nearest Grape to you, so if you get stuck I can probably make room to look after your Laydees if you need me to.

                            Kirsty,

I hope Brad and your chook both respond to meds and tlc. Sounds like they're both beginning to rally♥

Survivor number 6 passed away during the night, the shock must have been too much for her.
The other 5 are doing fine, and I plan to spend all day witth them tomorrow, sorting the run and giving everything a good pre-winter clean out.
