  • New Coop almost there - pics

Coop almost there, just a few bits left to do..

    Roof to paint (rubberised)
Hatch to fit on front window
Look at removing boxes and putting in shelving?

All chooks getting on well (most the time), just need some eggs now..

Cost of full build is exactly zero...

Old playhouse - free from pub
Wire etc for run - recycled old run and bits I had in the garage
paint, nails etc - all in the garage

Looks good! My only thought is that the birds might fly out - mine certainly would. Is your garden secure?

The weeks and the years are fine. It's the days I can't cope with!

I like the 'spikes' on the fence - are they to keep chooks in or foxes out? Looks great, well done on your costs too, they're so expensive to buy, you've saved yourself a fortune!

The spikes stop them getting out, they can only manage 4ft jumps..lol
Garden secure anyhows, they mainly freerange round the garden during the day - all getting very good, went to bed with no probs or noise tonight..

love the house smoggy But id rethink the run if it was me .. You could find your hens will spike themselfs to death ( They will jump to the roof then try to fly over Im sure ) not only that! but thats not fox proof at all Your be better off putting a wire roof on it

You've really done well. It looks great and the chooks look very content (and why the devil shouldn't they with their 5* accommodation)

Excellent use of materials Smoggy! I love it!

I'm in the process of building my own shed & run. Luckily I've managed to get most of the wood for free, some of the screws & I've got screws left from the decking I built.

I'm very much a newbie when it comes to chicken breeds, what are the ones you have?

              Regards

Thanks for all your compliments and concerns..

With regard foxes - we have none, but the chickens are locked in on a night just in case im wrong, and are free ranging all day with someone at home.

With regards the spiking of chickens (kebabs) - no chance - they can hardly reach top of fence never mind spikes - all wing clipped.

And finally my brood consists of 3 Marans, 4 Light West Sussex and 4 Warrens... See pics..

I am not long into chooking myself, but Im warning you - its very addictive..lol

Dont we all know its addictive..lol . By the way why did you have to put the "chooks" sign on? Was it to stop the neighbours moving in.

oh hilly, now imagine the scene..

Chooks out playing all day. I tell them its bedtime and they dont know where they live...

Then all of a sudden one of them sees my sign - phew she sighs, there is our new house, c'mon gals..lol
