  • RIR 3wks old now and look how weve grown

Well these guys are nothing like my last bunch. They're bigger, noisier squabblier, better feathered than the others at this age.
Any guesses as to which are boys and girls greatly appreciated.

    And here's the Cochins

On their own these are quite quiet, but put them with the RIR and they change coats. And they weigh a ton! Boys and girls guesses please

      And the little leghorn too

The last of the cochins, and the little leghorn, who looks suspiciously like a rooster.

Not that its worth much but heres my guess... 3 and 4 of RIR's are cocks, others hens....

I was thinking that the only RIR I would be fairly sure was a girl is no2 (also facing the other way to the rest) For the others, I really couldn't say!

Hmm, I have strong feeling that 3 n 4 RIR are roos too, 2 should be a hen from the feathers so bet I've got 4 roos cos that would be sods law. Oh well, someone had to end up called dinner sooner or later. Will just have to keep fingers crossed. Its the chance you take with hatching rather than buying.
Angel/angelo the leghorn will be reprieved whichever as I will add him into my Hillys hybrid bucket mix.

I hate to say it but they could possibly all be boys - but RIR 3,4&5 really do look like boys.

The cochins are interesting, what colour are they?

Hope I'm wrong - or just spreading my own pessimism of at 75% boys to girls this year....

I think number 2 on the first set is a girl, 3 & 4 boys - only because the girls get their tail feathers quicker than the boys.
My girls found their way into my heart and now they nest there

They are at that lanky scruffy phase - don't they look scuffy, but lovely with it.

Yeah, plus that one has thinner legs than the other 4.........
                        Can't tell with the Cochins.

So far theyre called Tank 1 Tank 2 Tank....

Corax, theyre supposed to be buffs, but either Im daft or ones a partridge. Is possible cos breeder has both.
Only 75% boys I think Im nearer 80% so far and thats not including these, and I think 4 out of 5 RIR is likely. Think the cochins will be guessed by the crow or lay method
