    Good Afternoon All

I know I have broached this subject before and I know it was a bit of a no no. I am a little fed up of getting eggs from Ebay and there being 12 different kinds of chicks. from discussions with people on here I know they breed specific chickens and was wondering if there was anyway we could list the breeds we have and offer some kind of egg swap/sale. With Ebay they do put fertility not guaranteed which is acceptable what does annoy me is when it is a completley different breed. Any thoughts?

I'm sort of with you on this idea Wall. I think it'd have to be a "Private" thing between swappers though as the Mods can't really take on any more things to keep an eye on and any grumbles about fertility, hatch rates etc would have to be between the Grapes involved.

For what it's worth, I've got fertile (mostly) eggs from my Bluebelle girls and Basil. If anybody wants any, just pm me. I'm happy to give them away free for nothing but I'd like the postage costs covered. I might be looking for more eggs to incubate or put under a broody next year
My girls found their way into my heart and now they nest there

that's awful! Do you give negative feedback in such cases? It's worth holding off your feedback until you really know what you've bought

What about posting a eggs wanted section on The Roosting Bar (for example), and anyone who has those available can pipe up with what they have and what they want in trade...?

I have had some interesting occurences myself (see 'spot the error' thread for the most recent), am very upset that my beautiful Dorkings are blue/green egg laying which was not stated!

I think it is a perfectly reasonable idea, seed swap so why not egg swap. We are breeding buff orpington, light sussex, pekin bantam, mixed colour silky and general hybrid (mixes of light sussex cockerel with white star, bluebelle, rhode islandx , black rock) but we won't be able to swap eggs until next year. (Half the eggs I have obtained off ebay have been fertile, half have not.) Thornes poultry near us sells hatching eggs too.

You can ask the Moderators (Zazen or SarzWix) or ...

at the bottom of the front page - click on the link to Forum Leaders. Then you'll see who all the admin bods are.

                          I've replied to Dan already, but I'll say it here too for the record;

I'm sorry, we've said it before, but it's still the same answer - 'no can do at the moment'. We just can't cope with the extra shenanigans that will be generated. And I don't necessarily mean you guys, who are lovely and sensible people
But you would soon see a rash of new members attracted by the swap (the Vine always features high in any Google search of subjects that feature on here), begging, causing ruckus if something goes wrong, not keeping up their end of the deal etc. Plus the extra spammers that would be pulled in...
All of this already happens on the seed swap to a certain extent, hopefully you chaps don't notice most of it

Selling of any sort is not allowed on the Vine either, so that's a no-go.

Please feel free to privately & informally swap your eggs if that's what you want to do, but be careful, and please don't fall out - Rule the Roost is such a friendly place

Having had to sort out seed swap issues, plus various articles that have gone missing in the post, on 'informal swaps', may I politely say

                            PLEASE NO!!!

If it isn't working on ebay; a system designed for selling stuff; why on earth would it work here?

ETA: I've suggested taking it onto Facebook; where you will all be free to swap to your heart's content.

I'm a bit apprehensive about this but I would be willing to set up a facebook page on facebook if people wanted it. What I will say is I cannot be responsible for fertility or recieving them. Does anyone fancy working on this with me. We could operate a one bad swap(i.e. eggs/payment not recieved) and your out system. What do people think
