I had a rechargable spotlamp which died (wouldnt recharge) and my OH added long wire from the internal wirig, added croc clips and I use that on a car battery. Good light, but doesnt last too well, think it eats power. About 4 hrs at best.

that doesnt sound too bad Hilly. I would only need it 15 minutes a day to make sure they haven't knocked the water over and to give them more food. Could charge it at weekends

You could light up a runway and land a plane by that.

I've got 2 of these in my garden too. They light up the runs enough to see what I'm doing, collecting feeders etc at night, also (hopefully) puts off Mr Fox if he decides to pay another visit

Blimey, this is all a bit high tech, we've just got a couple of large torches (one each) and those little battery powered lights inside the chicken houses themselves. Hope it's going to be good enough, we didn't think we'd need to light the houses too much apart from to check that everyone is in to roost safely.

The only reason I got the solar powered PIR ones in the first place was to try and add an extra deterrent for Mr Fox. Being able to see into the coops at night is an added bonus

I turned off my garden lights in case they kept the chooks awake
