I just spotted this solar light set up Solar Powered Lighting Kit | Chicken Houses & Coops, Poultry Supplies & Equipment and it occurred to me that it might also power electric fencing should you want to turn your coop and run into Colditz

Solar power is great, it's portable!
Now think about what that means when there is no-one about after dark..........
I wouldn't leave a solar-system and/or battery anywhere that it might be spotted by a 2 legged intruder. It probably wouldn't be there next day.
I'd go for a 'hands free' torch (there are some very good LED head-lamps) that you take home and use rechargeable batteries, charging them at home (take the head-lamp home as well).
Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.

Ah but I use my battery to run the electric fence for the horses too. Its out of easy access and camoflaged. Its got a carry box so I just pick it up and stick it in the barn till chooks / horses are done, then reattach to fence (does about a week if I only use it for the fence) and as Im on private land I can leave it on without signs, so if some nosey little so n so visits after dark....

they often stop even doing that very quickly, I've had several (admittedly cheap ones) and they all die!
