With great trepidation I opened up the coop this morning- and there she was grinning at me!!!...well I think it was me grinning at her with her head tipped to one side but walking towards me!!!
Talk about relief!!!!!
So.....she's had an extra handful of corn and a little love and she off chasing flies in the field! ( at least with one eye pointing at the ground she'll be able to spot them better in the grass!!!)
Yip yip yip eh??????

hmm- well- she seems better during the day although her head is twisted a bit .
Problem is at night she goes 'funny' again- she's sleeping in a box on the floor with her head twisted and upside down and starts rolling it and falling over if you disturb her.
One of the young males is definitely picking on her- he's for the chop tomorrow or Friday anyway
I'm just wondering if some of this is a result of bullying too?
If she weren't so good during the day I'd of thought she had brain damage
maybe she has a little- or as she's only 1/2 way through her antibiotics , maybe her ear infection is taking a while to settle.
When I pick her up she closes her eyes and starts weaving and circling her head with her eyes close- almost like sever vertigo
The boys will be gone by Friday- and the antibiotics finished on Sunday
...after that..we'll have to see.
What do other peeps think????

It does sound as if she has vertigo. If she was mine and she's ok during the day I'd give her a chance providing you feel she's not suffering. If she has brain damage she'll probably adjust to it, if it's an ear infection it'll take a while to settle (does in people and dogs anyway - the only other species I know about!)
You might get a better view when the boys have gone.
My Bluebelle was bullying one of my ex-batts when they were roosting, and the exbatt was looking really under the weather so I split the groups from an 8 and a 4 into 2 sixes and put the 2 lower ex-batts in with 4 young Warrens - what a result! Hattie is now fully feathered, red comb, upright tail! Can't believe the difference!
Big [[[[[hugs]]]]] for Lily!
Interestingly ...I got a gut feeling tonight that some of her behaviour ( rolling head with closed eyes - but suddenly spotting sultanas and leaping up and eating them(!!!) having just starting to try and tuck her lolling head underneath a lifted wing - first time she's done that (!))- is quite connected to bullying.
She's clearly still got a ear /balance problem..but there's clearly a psychological problem going on too.
I'll try and get the boys 'sorted' tomorrow to give her an extra stress free day
I'm all for an underdog ( typically British I believe!!)...no excuse for bullying in my view!
( although I can understand that a dominant male would want to protect the rest of the flock by culling weaker members)
So...2 or 3 courses of antibiotics it will be !

It's never plain sailing with these choocks is it? This does sound quite complicated but glad you're giving her a chance and nursing her back to full health, fingers and everything else. crossed she improves.
