  • Thanks to Nicos and the grapevine.....

And my being a soppy s*d too

This morning my new mum disgraced herself and had lost a chick (for the second time), when I found the first one it was cold but twitched its beak when I picked it up so I rushed inside and warmed it up with a little help from the hair dryer........

This morning no.2 was dead, no twitch no blink nothing, stiff as a board but remembering Nicos's experiences earlier in the year and its wee sibling the night before I couldn't quite accept it was deceased -and didn't wan't to , so I held it for a bit longer and noticed its eye had shut - maybe it was already shut? or I brushed it shut? - nope ikkle yellow chick was alive! And after warming is now eating and drinking with several hatch mates (broody incubator combo going on...)

Phew! Last hatch this year for sure! I'm going grey! but then again I did so want some wyandotte banties......

      Aww...that's such lovely news!!!!!!....
      *( quietly brushes tear away)*

I've picked up so much chook info from here, and to be honest, my OH probably wouldn't have persuaded me to have chooks if it hadn't been for the fact that I knew there were loads of chook newbies- and experienced keepers -on the Vine to turn to.

May I too add my thanks to you all for your support in my times of need!
