    They are the ones with holes in so no, they don't get all slippy. Also being holey you don't have the problem of rats getting underneath overnight to keep warm.
    Another idea...some people are now selling rubber chippings - not sure how much they cost though. Long lasting I would have thought....

      rubber chippings, now initially I thought that is a good idea, but then how easy would it be for a chicken to eat one and get it stuck?

      I checked some prices, for a 3mx3m area you would be looking at £96 apparently most of this stuff is non toxic according the the FAQ pages
