Hi,
I have posted here a while back stating i was thinking about getting chickens, well due to family ill health we were unable to proceed but now happily I am in the position (funds permiting) to start researching this seriously.
I have found a local supplier of feed £7.50 for a 20K bag of pellets
I am looking to house 4 hens and have found a supplier of Black Rocks £9 each and Sussex Buffs £12.50 each as was thinking about getting 2 of each? are they good birds to start with? I am looking for good egg layers that my 2 young chilren will hopefull be able to interact with?
I have been scouring ebay for a Coop but most seem realy expensive or are local pick up only. Idealy what dimension should i require a coop to be for 4 birds this size? Also i will make my own run as this should be most simple ut again how much room should i give over.
The patch of my garden that i am giving over to the hens unfortunately does not have grass but is well sheltered from the elements what should i floor the run with as i dont want it to be a mudpile for the chooks?
Any advice welcome and any sugestions on where i could get a decent coop at a decent price would be greatly apreciated
Thanks in Advance Alan
