Mine is more to deter predators of the 2-legged variety at night! Hoping if they try again the fence will give them enough of a kick to discourage thieving for a third time!

Sue, do NOT say anything like this to anyone in your area. It is probably on the borders of illegal to risk 'harming' a human intruder in the process of deterring them, but if the fence is 'intended' for foxes and cats, and there is warning, you are safe. NEVER admit to ill intentions towards those who should not be on your property.

Nope- apparently 'Beware of the dog ' signs can indicate that you accpt that you have a potentially dangerous animal uncontrolled within your area- probably unmuzzled too!!!!.
Remember- some peeps can't read English...so even a written warning without a piccie is inadequate.
I agree - your fence is to deter foxes

The fence has the prescribed warning sign with pictures and in 4 languages. If it didn't harm my chooks when they put their heads thro I don't think it's going to actually harm anyone. There is a fox on the site who has eaten some chooks (not mine). Its a deterrent not a weapon.

Nah- just make sure you don't reset any pacemakers!!!

Fingers crossed it'll do the trick! We had 5 foxes mating in our field behind the chooks last year!!!....and our chooks are still with us - behind the fence. We leave it on all the time- even though they are securely locked away at night- so the foxes know not to mess with it!.

We have had our behind electric fence now for about 2 months, the chickens very quickly learned to keep away from it. you can tell by the way they eat the grass that they do not go within a foot of it. We have had 1 fly out, she stayed just on the other side close to the flock.

I have not tried it yet, but a friend who raises partridge and pheasants in pens adds 2 extra wires running 2 - 3 feet around the outside of the mesh. This serves two purposes, the fax cant get close enough to jump, and if it crosses the first wire, the mesh gets it causing the fox spins and the running wire gets him again thoroughly putting him off.

He also uses small flashing lamps and an old transistor radio in a plastic bags hanging off the fence, the lights and the noise from the radio put the fox off as well.

He also has a nasty habit of peeing along the fence line, not too sure which smells worse, him or the foxes, but he swears by it.

Leaving one's dog's poop around the perimeter of ones estate is supposed to put off M.Reynaud too.

Frankly, electric fencing, man pee and doggie do around the coop is probably enough for the chooks to say enough! I commit chookicide! This place stinks

Welsh, Polish, Portugese, various other Eastern European languages........not sure that those are the languages on the notice but the big lightning sign is pretty graphic and universal! Most signs in this area are at least bilingual Welsh/ English and as we have a large Polish community many are in Polish as well!
Not sure what language Mr Fox reads but I daresay it's one of those!
