  • Yipeeeee got me girls today

Well i finally got everything sorted and as an early crimbo present i got me 4 girls 1 x cuckoo maran 1 x black maran and 2 x sussex, they have all seemed to settle in quite well and were eating and drinking fine but i did notice that the cuckoo seemed to be sort of sneezing or at least making a noise with it's nose (so to speak) is this normal coz she seemed to do it when the sussex girls were around and i thought it might be some sort of warning sound telling them to back off. If it is a bit of a cold what should i give her? or is there something i could give all of them to ward off colds etc.
As you can tell i am really new to this and just want the best for me new girl and for them to be happy.
And coz i'm a big softey their called Madam Cuckoo (she seems to be the boss already) Betty Black and the two Sussex Girls Chantell and Chardony.
Can't wait to let them out tomorrow to see them again.
    All the best
    Phattaff
P.S. will put some pictures up asap.

      Cheers Nicos.
I must say i feel a bit stupid coz i was just sitting there drinking me coffee looking throught the window at them, giving the better half a running account of what they were doing, better than watching tv anyday, just sad it got dark and had to put them to bed

Congrats on getting your girls. I still love chook watching 18 months after getting them so you have lots of pleasure still to come. Someone with a more knowledge of chook illness will be along soon I'm sure to advise about Madam Cuckoo.

Oh well done you You've already found out that chooks are great time-stealers!

I'd give your girls a bit of poultry spice in their feed for a few days, it helps with the stress of moving and settling in to a new place. Also put a garlic clove in their water, that helps to boost them up a bit too, it might also help if one of your girls has got a bit of a cold.
My girls found their way into my heart and now they nest there
