does a really huge crop in otherwise happy and still pecking hen just mean she's eaten alot? (really sorry about these possibly daft questions)

If mine are anything to go by - yes!
You hadn't just put down their feed for the day had you? I find mine go ballistic and stuff themselves to explosion point then wander off to 'process' what they have collected.
I suppose the question is, is this a full crop after feeding or does it look that way first thing in the morning before you put any food down - I think you need someone with more experience/knowledge that I have for this.
My only negative thought is that hens won't show if they are ill - bu if she is feeding and drinking normally then that shouldn't be an issue? The weeks and the years are fine. It's the days I can't cope with!

Chickens that have eaten a lot will have a large crop. Some of my free rangers return at dusk looking like they have swallowed a tennis ball! They don't eat that much pellet so goodness what they have been gorging on but it's obviously tasty.
If your hen is otherwise behaving normally then do not worry.
