  • Chicken Run - Scotland

    Hi,

Does anyone know of somewhere i can get a hold of a chicken Run in Scotland? I'm in the Fife Region but willing to travel, I have a coop purchased of ebay ( not impressed with in btw and will be buying another one in the new year) I'd try building the run myself, but Im strugling to do it? Any advice welcome,

Can hardly wait to start keeping Hens, I have found a few suplliers of Hens close to where I live and A few suppliers of feed and otherstuff, the dificulty seems to be in getting the run

    Desperate Nribs

    Thanks

My other half is a carpenter, so I managed to get him to do this, however I was going to have a go extending this, not to the same standard, and most of what I can see is 4 pieces of 8ft lengths put together ina square and then my wire nailed to it with strengthening bars across the middle and then all 4 being fixed together.

There is a company that do these runs for around £80-140 on ebay, think it may be arks-runs-chicken- or something similar

I built my own house and run because I couldn't find anything made to the standard I wanted.
You can see the photos if you click the link at the bottom.
However I am moving to a bigger plot of land soon and will be converting a shed.
The hens don't mind as long as it is dry and draught free with a cosey place to lay. If you can knock something together yourself then go for it but if not then I am afraid its the mail order lottery !

I got both my house with small run, and a larger run off ebay. Both were delivered by carrier. If you want to me let you know the addresses where I bought them from, just send me a PM. Well done on wanting to keep chooks - best thing I ever did! Its brilliant!

My Dad and I built our run and coup....we're in Scotland, just over the bridge from you.

It's much more cost effective and labour effective to do it yourself.

The most important thing is that it's fox proof and easy to access, clean!
