It's amazing how quiet it is now that my flock is nowe only 3 big... fortunately the 10 week old chicks were in the Greenhouse and I did not integrate them last weekend like I was going to....

Are you totally fox proof now btw? Not to put a downer on things but they do tend to come back for more. Good news about your growers - very lucky . I'd wait a bit on these anyway otherwise they may well get a pretty hard time. Maybe when your poorly hen is back on her feet (positive thinking ) she could be put with these - it'll be alot easier on her than going in with fully grown hens on her own. Are you in a rush intergrate? I'd look at waiting until they are 16 wks min when they can stand their own. Chooks can be such awful bullies.

We normally are(relatively speaking) but OH did not want to risk hurting sproglet and locking them up that night and I was in Germany on business... Thanks for the info on integrating the growers... will wait a while. In no particular rush

Wonderful news red thorn!! What a little trooper. With both wings working I can't imagine it was a stroke. My Audrey sound similar, not using one leg, I have a feeling the cat took her on quite a ride to get out of the run ie over a fence!!!! I have hope though with your news. Well done.

I wonder if the positive vibes the grapes give each other filter through to the poorly chooks?

              Lets hope so

The cheeky begger! Sure she was just trying to get extra attention! Bless her she seems to have made a full recovery, although she is not laying yet. Between the three girls, I'm getting about 1 egg every 3 days at the momnet. I'm not sure how much is down to the time of year and the weather and how much is down to the fox attack. I was getting about 4/5 eggs per day prior to the attack.

It just goes to show what a bit of TLC can do for these girls! Well done - I'm really chuffed for you and her! She'll always be that bit extra special to you now I expect.

Don't you just know it! Well I have 1 girl left from each rescue and my LS and all three are truely special for a host of different reasons. They could all retire from egg laying and I would not mind.

I've got 2 left from my original 12 ex-batts of 2 years ago - both have moulted and looked on their last legs but now looking like they might lay again! I hope not as I'd rather they enjoyed their retirement - just like me!

Glad she's ok again. When you get to know and love them it's not the eggs that are most important is it?

I'm so glad she pulled around...

Bibs is looking less bewildered by the day and amazingly although she has always been oven ready since March she has a full set of feathers coming through.

great news RT that she has recovered. Your girls will pick up laying - they've had a shock and now winter is coming thick and fast. Come Feb they'll be back to norm

We have non layers too btw! although things have picked up this week and I am suddenly with many many more eggs, so this evening I am making lemon curd for xmas pressies.
