Yuck, first one of these. About 2/3 transparent shell around perfectly formed yolk and albumen. Still very warm when I removed it

Does it make the hen uncomfortable passing one of these?

There is always oyster shell grit in the coop and they do use it.

I think they get uncomfortable as it takes longer to lay.
Its worse if you put it in your pocket and forget its there!

*Wonder if the soft egg is why Madge was gnarly again* Little madam drew blood again

On the other hand, it was Maude who was stocking up on oyster shell at bedtime

Sorry if it was somehow offensive

Not so much offensive, just a little horrid.

I want to know what the original title was now.
One of my oldest ex-batts doesn't lay very often but when she does it's completely without shell. It's really difficult to pick up without breaking. Just like a small water balloon. I don't know how she manages to lay it without breaking it. I rip the menbrane to open scramble it and give it back to her. Maybe that's why she does it like that.

I suspect that this may be one of the girl's first eggs. For the last eight days I've been getting two eggs a day, so I think they're all laying now.

That's a good idea Frias. I'll scramble it with Poultry Spice and they can have egg and cherry tom brunch

                You have a pm btw.
