we go reasonably regularily. Mainly to mooch but usually end up with something!
Our nearest is Penkridge in Staffordshire on a wednesday afternoon every week, and leek livestock market every other saturday (next week its on)
Prices cheaper to buy at penky and better to sell at leek in my opinion, unless its the specialist auctions (3 per year) at penky then selling there is a major boost to the economics. Turkeys going for £150 a pair!!
book me in for some of that in april!

My local livestock auctions dont seem to sell poultry on their regular sale days . Ive been to the special ones at Carlisle, good but pricey. Cockermouth, quite small. Kendal, good, but it was their first ever poultry.
Mind its probably a good job, if I went on spec Im sure thered be something in the back when I got homeAnyone who says nothing is impossible has never tried slamming a revolving door

I went to the one at Melton Mowbray a couple of years ago bc (before chooks).
Came home with lots of cooked meats.
Will now have to be VERY careful about livestock auctions. I hate to think how many chooks could hide in the back of the estate (with the seats down) when I'm not looking. If a thing's worth doing, it's worth doing to excess

I go to Hexham twice yearly, spring and autumn. Bought my Minorca's there.
One thing I learned was that generally, chooks near the end of the auction were a lot cheaper than chooks at the beginning.
Auction rooms empty near the end so less buyers means cheaper prices! My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order
