We are having so much fun with these little birds - my daughter regularly brings them in the house - they are like parrots! They are so easy to tame, not flighty, like watching tv and for their size are pretty feisty!(cat watch out!!) Any other pekin lovers out there?

yep, my good lady. we have:-
Cuckoo Pekin
Lemon Cuckoo
Black
Silver Partridge
Gold Partridge
Lavender
Blue
Columbian
Millefleur
Buff
and she is working on getting some pure whites!
and if you thing Pekins are cute, imagine a 9lb in weight Black Pekin, all shiny and beetle irridescent - thats our Cochin Cockerel. Same shape and feet, just huge! and dopey as well

we will sell hatching eggs when they come into lay - probably in the spring now. they are to preoccupied in wading around in the mud and straw and keeping warm!
currently our days are spent here restrawing up yards to keep them clean and dry and washing the birds (then warm air drying) the ones that have been too inquisitive and got clarted up in mud.
There is something cool about a pekin sat on the kitchen side having a blow-dry from the hair dryer. they absolutely love it! infact, our columbian cockerel (who by virtue of being pure white with black markings shows every drop of mud and thus is a regular customer to the washing room) seems to lean in towards the warm air stream with his eyes shut - mesmerised!

The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory....
