Chicken eye infection ?

Hi All, does anyone know if a chicken cold can affect only one eye. I have a new pullet who has one eye permanently closed and swollen, it looks infected but dos'nt appear to have affected the other eye. She seems not be move a great deal which worries me and would'nt go up the ladder on her own to bed however she does appear to eat and sleep Ok. I'm not sure whether I should take her to the vet or if its something she will get over on her own, any ideas ?

She could have an injury. Does it open at all? Try bathing it gently with warm salty water - about a teaspoon of salt to a pint of water. If it doesn't improve after bathing or she becomes unwell then go to vet. If she has any signs of a cold then try some garlic in the food or water - won't do any harm anyway.
