My day will get better?!

OK so having a nice lie in, boys were at apanto and got to bed late and bless them they didn't wake up til past 8 am!

I hear a faint, 'cockadoodledoo', several times.
I say to OH (woke him up actually but ho-hum) 'hmm I really hope that's not one of my girls, and she actually is a boy' (see previous posts about this)
'I can't hear it' says OH
I open the window and get back into bed.
'COCKADOODLEDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO' We both hear. Mighty loud this time.

I get out of bed and say I've got to see him crowing!

Instead of being 150 feet down the garden in a secure run, he's right under my bedroom window with 2 of his new girls! Looking mighty pleased with himself too.

Spent a merry 20 mins rounding them up before brekie and he is now back in the crate and departing today! Just hope I don't have to do any damage limitation with the neighbours!

lol... now is it too early for a drink cos I surely need one!

thankfully my next door neighbour works on the dairy farm so he is up before the chooks. just as well, i have around 20 cockerels at the moment that have a "beautiful" dawn chorus!

What I don't really understand is how the people I got them off didn't realise he was a cockeral! They have had him for over a year.

There was another cockeral in the group which has been found a new home so maybe he didn't get chance to prove his manliness til now.

I did find it a bit strange at the time when she told me she gets 3 eggs a day from 4 hens. Our girls have always laid one a day each.

I had called her Enid, guess he's an Eric now! lol, and off to a home with hundreds of birds where he won't get chance to strut his stuff again. So confusing for him!
