This is the first time I have opened this thread. More out of curiosity than interest. I can now see the interest it has provoked. I even feel disgusted when I see dogs on leads wearing leg warmers and rainhats let alone chooks wearing nappies. FGS they will be wearing condoms next.

i hate dressed up pets, the only concession i make is for my female shiba inu (rehomed from the RSCPA) who cant tolerate salt on the pads of her feet (makes her feet blister) , so in the winter when they have been salting the roads, i put her "mushing" shoes on to keep her feet out of the salt, but that is all she has!

Proper water proof mushing shoes are hard to find in the UK, so we sent off to Canada for them - figured they would have the genuine article there!

she did have a coat last year, but that was down to the fact that when the RSPCA found her, she had been lying in her own excrement for three weeks and burnt most of her fur off, so in the iwnter she needed some cover. Now her own coat is nearly an inch thick, i can dispense with the coat for her!

Redthorn - the "do up at the back" coats where i work are only used as an emergency where i work. However, some of the other items they have are handy.

I have a sheet of perspex (6'x4') that was taken out of an isolation room. Its great as a covered roof over one of the runs. I dont worry about it breaking. Its only 6mm thick and designed to have a 16 stone patient try and break out of it by throwing themselves through it!

if it can withstand that, it can withstand a few barbu d'uccle!

I know, the movies do act it up alot. What I was commenting on was how nicely you glammed them up with figure hugging ...etc

Get another 5 sheets of that stuff and you almost have a full greenhouse that'll withstand virtually anything! fantastic roof for the chooks though. perspex or makrolon?
Never test the depth of the water with both feet

The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory....

Always remember you're unique, just like everyone else.

RT - i will get the actual name of the product for you as it began with a K i am sure of it.

the room it came from has been totally upgraded, and it has new non slip vinyl everywhere - even up th ewalls so that they can be cleaned easily.

i am on the look out for some non slip vinyl as it makes great bases to the shed (as long as you put half a bucket of red mite powder down first, then silicone it around the edge to make it mite proof. i have currently stashed around about 20 sq metres of it, various colours. i am particularily drawn to the marine version which has large "bobbles" on it to help with the non slip. apparently its used around swimming pools normally!

I have just looked at this thread and I reckon the woman needs the straight-jacket, not the hen. Was I surprised to find her American? I think not!!!
