  • New Boy on the block....

Sent my OH out last week to get a decent piece of pork for my Sunday lunch from our local organic farm and she comes back with a new cockerel.!! Not for the pot mind but as a present for me and my girls. He's a very handsome Lavender Araucana and the girls have all taken to him wonderfully. However...... How do cockerels cope with "Layers Pellets" ? Is his voice going to break and will he grow breasts and start tippy toeing through the mud.??

My cockerel is doing fine on layers He's not needing a bra and stomps around rather than anything like a mincer

Oh and his voice is certainly butch!

A very handsome chap by the look of it. His progeny should lay BLUE eggs as well! (Although it looks like you already have some blue egg layers?)

everything at mine is on layers (god knows why cos nowts layin) and there are are no mincy cockerals around. Even the gander gets some, and he's definately male. In fact my OH wishes he did have a feminine side as it would be less painful for him (OH). Cant see his problem..Syd never bites me

Yes Nicos. The OH has major plans for the little Araucana (Misty) that we have (TBH I think thats really why she bought him). I do feel sorry for her because she is small and if i'm honest, i think a bit slow on the uptake. Anyway we'll see what a good s******g does for her.....

I just want to emphasise that when i say "She's small and a little slow on the uptake" I am refering to the chicken Misty and NOT my OH. Thank you.

                    ROFL...
Actually theyre a pair of canada x and are called Syd and Charisse, after the dancer Cyd Charisse. She was ace, when I was lickle VERYlong time ago, I loved watching Dancing in the Rain...and that's just what they did the first wet day after I bought them, lol. And yes they could have been Gene and Kelly, but they're far too pretty.
