Not really something I want to boast about incase someone wants to spoil that as well. Me and a friend do hatch quite a few out for sale though.

Anyway... These eggs I bought to hatch for me... I have had one hatch so far and no more pipped so hoping by midday to see a few more holes and hatches. I can hear them talking inside their shells.

Still no more pipped. Getting concerned about these eggs, I'm sure it's something to do the the electric going off the other week. Probs off set them by a day or so - I hope :-( All my other incubators are fine in the office - will try and get some piccys of them on Friday.

RedThorn - I am not bothering to post a pic of this one because it is a HE :-( according to the so called 'sex-link'.

I'll stick to the eggs I know next time.

Still one chick and no more pips. I think the eggs are duds. I am going to crack them later on today to see what went wrong :-(

So I've got one little chick that I need to sex properly although I think it is a cock :-( If it's a hen, I'll get some little friends for it but if a cock - it'll make a frozen treat for the owls.

Ohhh! I'm sorry to hear things haven't gone to plan. Would you not give the little fellow a chance though?? Especially if he is the only one to survive. Yes I know I'm far too sentimental and not at all practical in these matters, but don't you think the poor man deserves a chance? Pleeeeeeeeeeeeease!

I cracked some of the eggs. Some were clear (not fertile) and some were half developed chicks. So this little cockerel must have been in a warm spot in the incy when the power went off.

Sadly it has resulted in a cull There was no point in rearing a Light Sussex cockerel on his own, it would have cost too much and I would have had to cull him eventually anyway.

I know not to buy eggs online again - that'll teach me to stick with my large suppliers.

Now I class today as a crap day

3 weeks is a long time to be quietly excited isn't it...only for the whole thing to go wrong.
                        sorry x

                            That's really tough Matthew.
If I ever get round to it I've got at least 4 folk I can get potentially fertile eggs from all within a few miles of home, so I'm hoping that'll increase the chance of a decent hatch - particularly as I'm a hatching novice and have no hens likely to go broody! Just building up the courage!

Go for it, it is good fun if it works out ok. The eggs I incubate for sale are very good eggs. I am going to stick a few extra in for myself.
