*wonders whether sun screen has to be applied to their necks when the thaw happens?

I personally agree but mike thinks they are "funky" (his words not mine) I've already knitted jumpers for my ex batts - but perhaps chicken scarves is taking it a bit far!!

Sun screen - hadn't thought of that!!

Sally - vultures - thanks I was trying to think of what they reminded me of now i know

Scaley leg - we use Frontline spray on scaley leg. We find that vaseline is too greasey for fethered legs and attracts dirt and general crud on to the feathers. it works fine on unfeathered legs, but on Pekins, Barbu, Cochins and the like its a non starter.

we have used surgical spirit the once, but found that he birds winced when we did it so figured it must cause discomfort to them. Therefore, the frontline spray (kitten spray not the spot on) works on anything that crawls on a chicken. Red Mite, Scaley Mite, Lice etc its great. Just tell the vet you have a kitten that needs de-flea work. otherwise he wont prescribe it for a chicken as its not licenced for them, however the active ingredient is, so our vet just winks and asks how our kitten is doing. The vet nurse has sussed us i think as she comments that our kitten must be nearly two years old and should be on frontline properly now......

As for brahma - what do you think to this chap? he was at the federation - stunner
          He???? are you sure
