I thought you shouldnt give eggs to chooks? I've been reading this thread with interest, as although I check my girls twice a day the eggs have been pretty cold when I've found them. There is plenty of straw in the hutch so I'm hoping they will be warm enough. Well, that and the single duvet cover stuffed with loft insulation which Ive placed over the top of the roof to try to keep the worst of the cold away. (Yes, I know I'm barking mad!)

Eggs are good for chooks. You need to cook them of course, so they don't think raw egg is a good thing - especially if they find out where it comes from. When chickies are moulting they can use the extra protein.

Thanks for that Flummery. My girls will be getting boiled egg as a treat now.
