I've mixed canary sand & grit with the oyster shell & grit cos I thought the latter was quite chunky but they pick out the oyster shell from the hopper.

Hi RT. She's a bit perkier, got 2/3ml of oil via a syringe into her this morning and it did soften the lump a bit, she's passing more now and I am convinced it's not as large. She's just took some water and a few white maggots. She walks around the kitchen pecking when out of her box and is making some chicken noises. When I massage the crop it feels softer and I am hoping the maggots will help to break it down further. Going to try some more of the oil later and a warm bath to see if that helps. Not as nervous now syringing into her mouth which is a relief.

I'm glad she seems to be picking up. They are delightful little creatures but it's such a worry when they aren't well. Hope you get her back to normal soon and all have a restful Christmas.Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.

Glad she's improving. Its amazing how hard their crop can get. My boys felt like hed been eating concrete, with twigs in If its starting to break up thats great. when it gets clear (or nearly) try turning your pellets into runny mash with warm water for her for a few days to let the inside all settle down before getting gradually back to normal grub. I didnt do this with mine and the silly begger promptly managed to do it again. Next time though I at least knew what was happening as soon as he started.Anyone who says nothing is impossible has never tried slamming a revolving door
