Finished moult!!!!

Glad to see my 'oldie' chooks appear to have finished there moult and started to lay again.

They seemed to have lost there feathers very quickly but because of the cold spell we've had, I'm glad to see they've regained them very quickly (about 3 weeks?)

Bit worried at the prospect of over two dozen eggs a day though!

It's the sign of a good hen if she moults quickly. Well done your girls. My oldies have moulted but have not yet come back into lay (well some of them are going into their 3rd or 4th season so I suppose they are allowed to have a longer rest).

You (or Mrs Snadge) can make up a load of quiches and then freeze them, you don't have to eat them all at once! My kids are into fried eggs and bacon big time but this is currently limited as we just don't have enough eggs coming in.

This raises a question about my ex-batts; they were rescued last November, and many have stopped laying. They've had a sort of half-moult, and I was wondering if they will start to lay again in the spring?
