The grass in a run disappears in about 2 days or less! I gave 6 girls 3 pots of seedling salad this morning and it was gone in 15 seconds! They'll trash any grass pretty quickly so look at what's easiest for you and most readily available.

I suppose in that case it might not exactly be worth putting it straight down on new turf (the house and run that is) probably best to have a fixed base, making it more secure too.
