  • last egg!

having had an egg a day from one of my Ls hybrids (egbert) I found her about mid morning with her last egg beside her and a massive prolapse.
I culled her immediately as there was obviosly no hope.

Very sad, as everyone says. I only hope, if faced with the same or similar situations, I could be as brave as you were. I think it takes tremendous courage to do the ultimate act of compassion.

had my girls about 8 weeks now, hope this was just bad luck as I think I have the feeding regime right.
On a slightly more callous note egbert is now in the fridge and will be partially cremated by mrs snakeshack, with some roast spuds later today.
I felt it would be a waste to dispose of her in any other way.
My 17 year old daughter thinks i'm a monster and is not speaking to me.
here's to a quiet lunch then.

Sorry for your loss Snakeshack. I think eating Egbert is very respectful, if you do manage to, but I understand your daughter's reaction too.

I couldn't bring myself to eat Sweet Clarrie Cluck when Teddy JR killed her and I wouldn't give her to her murderer for lunch either. Putting her in the bin seemed callous and uncaring but that is what I had to do.
