well I managed to borrow a heat lamp today and popped C, under it, I bathed her yesterday in case its egg bound, and carried on with the Marbocyl.

She was looking far more awake this afternoon and eating on her own accord, in fact every time i go in she is drinking and eating, so unlike the last couple of days where i've had to drip water and try and get her to eat....

Fingers crossed she is on the turn for the better

Curly has gone down hill rapidly, been to see the BHWT lady, she is taking care of her as she has the setup, but its not looking good, from a positive to such a weak little mite, she was eating so well Sunday and then today she went down hill, couldnt stand up when I went in to her today

          Not looking good at all

Sorry to hear that Tick. She did sound very sick though. I'd still back a tumour as if it had been egg binding or peritonitis she would have died much sooner. Several of my girls went this way and sadly there's really nothing you can do. When mine went off their legs I had them put to sleep at the vets. It's all down to the way they're treated before we get them - totally barbaric. At least you know you've shown her some love and care in her short time with you - she may yet ssurrise you and pull through but as you say it's not looking good. (((hugs))) to you and Curly from all the girls at Suechooks.

Thanks Suechooks, you try so hard, this one has upset me more than Omlet, but then I have had tons more contact with her being in the garage.

Anyway, I must live in hope, I have left the decision with my friend as she will see if she starts to show signs of improvement.

She is still with us and looked slightly better, my friend is a volunteer with the BHWT so she is quite used to dealing with poorly chickens on their last legs and has spoken with her contacts.

I asked her if she was suffering and she said not, so i'm happy to try but it is a worry that she wants to go and we're keeping her going.

Still was was happier today but still extremely weak

Unfortunately Curly passed away quietly in the arms of my friend this morning, she stopped breathing. :'(

Oh, that's sad. But if she couldn't get better, she's at least not in pain now.

So sorry to hear that Tick . You did what you could and I'm sure she knew she was loved and cared for in the end. These little ex-batts are the real heart-breakers of the chook world. {{{Hugs}}} to you.

Sorry to hear about Curly, Tick

I hope it's some consolation to you that, thanks to you, she passed her last days loved and cared for as a chicken and not as an egg laying machine.
