i've just tucked my lads and lasses into bed for the night and decided to check them over and feel their crops ( a new thing I've started doing since other peeps probs) and was rather surprised at how empty my lads crops were- until it dawned on me that they've been calling the gals over to eat what they've found. So a couple of mugfulls of corn later my lot have waddled along their perches all fluffed up for the night!

Your boys must be very well mannered and attentive Nicos. All my lot stuff themselves silly. I picked up my older Welsummer stud the other day and he weighed a ton! I think he spends all day by the feeder!
Another thing we should all be keeping an eye out for, if we have handsome boys with plenty of headgear, is frostbite. It's very easy for them to get wet wattles when they take a drink, and then if they stand around in the cold wind they are at risk.

I start putting it on before bed on anyone who is looking a little blue around the points - surprisingly mine are doing ok and only 2 of the Maran roos are in need of greasing up... so far! its a little warmer tonight but last night Altnaharra was about as cold as the south pole (about 30 miles away)
