  • Height of Cheek!

Let out my mother of 4 and her brood of fully feathered but still with mum for warmth babies this morning there was a newly laid (by one of the tree pullets) egg on the spilt hay next to her house (in a shed - sort of) in the blink of an eye she spotted it jumped to it and pecked it and started eating it calling along with her youngsters too! of course I grabbed her and removed it but egg eating is bad enough but right in front of me like that is just taking the mickey! - and yes they are getting plenty of feed sometimes the mash is a little varied as I'm having transport troubles at the mo but they are all well and plump (well reasonably ) inspite of the cold so no excuses for egg eating! grr!

Shes one of my homebred girls too so I don't know where she's learnt tjis behaviour!

Also there is a male phesant sauntering about out there like he owns the place!

Egg-eating is soooo annoying isn't it? We culled one because she was eating up to four a day. I understand they'll eat a damaged one, but brazenly breaking one to eat just isn't on!

We have a handsome male Pheasant here too - he struts around showing himself to all my 'Laydees' - who totally ignore him like he isn't there. Would've thought he'd give up, but no!
