You can usually mix 2 flocks of about the same size (best if more 'new' than 'old', and the 'new ones' should know each other if poss). Introduce overnight or at least AFTER last feed, odd are they will be fine, if only because if the 'old timers' don't like new company, the aggression should be well shared out, so it ought not to be excessive.
That said, there are no foolproof ways of introducing chooks....
Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.
The new girls, though quiet (which you would expect) seem to be settling in OK. Kaye and Clarissa have been very vocal this afternoon. I spent 2hours with them whilst I cleaned everything out. Kaye and Clarissa have quietened down and the new girls have been cuddling up together under the workbench in the greenhouse. They have had a little to eat, although Kaye and Clarissa have been very friendly this afternoon.
Just hope everything goes well tonight when its bedtime. Only time will tell.

They're lovely. Am dead jealous, both the black rocks that hatched were boys... so still don't have a black rock girl. All the best and may they bring you loads of joy
Never test the depth of the water with both feet
The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory....
Always remember you're unique, just like everyone else.
Thanks Steve - you can see right through me can't you?! LOL!
Nice to hear from you Sam
Bedtime has gone better than I expected. Marigold was still in the greenhouse curled up under the bench so I picked her up and put her in the hutch.
Couldn't find Bluebelle! She was already sleep in the laying bit of the hutch. Good for her!
Think things are going to go well.
Watch out for free eggs Sam

Mr DDL has just got home from panto rehersal (sp?). He's dashed outside with the torch to have a look at our new girls. Talk about a dog with two tails! And I thought I was the one who has hooked!
