  • Other uses for eggs......

Methinks Snadger could do with some more ideas to use his eggs, before he gets egg bound! Here goes:

I remember my mum rinsing my hair in beaten eggs as a type of conditioner as I have dry hair..... supposed to make your hair soft, but of course, use luke warm water as a rinse otherwise you'll end up with scrambled egg hair!

    OR: Egg shampoo

    1 egg white
    2 egg yolks
    1 teasp honey
    1 tblsp olive oil
    juice 1 lemon

Whisk egg white, fold in yolks. Stir in honey, oil and juice. Message into scalp, leave for a few minutes and then rinse using plenty of water until all the shampoo has gone.

OR: Special treatment for dry hair

    1 egg yolk
    2 tblsp olive oil

Stir the yolk into the oil. Massage into dry hair and leave for 30 mins. Shampoo then rinse.

    OR: Anti wrinkle mask

Infuse 250ml water with 1 tblsp dried mallow flowers for 30 mins then strain. Fold 3 tblsp into a stiffly beaten egg white. Apply to face and rinse after 20 mins.

I'm not saying you have dry hair Snadger, nor in the need of a face mask, but thought other grapes might find this useful!

You saying our Snadger's got egg on his face?

Actually I remember egg shampoos and face masks. Never tried them though.

Thanks for those ideas Bernie - might be trying the "anti wrinkle" thingy, though I think Polyfiller might do the job better

I did that as a teenager, but used hot water to rinse

Scrambled egg is really hard to get out of long hair.

The other daft thing I used to do was boil an egg in the kettle (thinking it was quicker than using a pan).
Of course, it's super-hard to get scrambled egg out of a kettle element

                  1. You can whisk egg whites and apply them as a face-mask!

                  2. Use the halves of shells to grow cress in. The cress will draw nutrients out of the old shells.

                  3. You can use the water that you boiled your eggs in (after you've let it cool) to water plants that could do with a little TLC in the form of protien.

I always put quite a lot of salt in the water when boiling eggs........

                      Does that make a difference?

                        It would to your plants!!!!

Thanks for all the info Bernie! Might have a go with the scrambled egg shampoo?
But I draw the line at clagging the stuff on my face! (some would say it would make an instant improvement though!)

How is there protein in the boiled water?

... and what plants require protein?

                            a scrub/mask I make when I can be @rsed:

                            egg yolk
                            tsp olive oil
                            tsp honey
                            1-2 dessertspoons porridge oats

mix up, gently rub on, leave for 10 mins or so, then rinse off with warm water.
Leaves my skin baby soft and the honey smells lovely. Don't need to use moisturiser afterwards either.

Not sure about it,but the chap at the Post Office told me I could use egg whites for glue.(he'd sold out of the kiddy craft stuff)...would it smell once dry though?
