  • Thats where my eggs are!!!!

I finished work yesterday and came home, released the girls from their run to free range the massive garden and spend a little time with them (they really are like women, lots of attention required lol). Specky one of my warrens jumped straight onto the rabbit run fence, down into the run, up onto the opposite fence and over into the neighbours garden!!!!!

Now for those of you who read the dog got in garden post, dont panic..
Its the opposite neighbours who are lovely and really enjoy the gals as much as i do. So no trespassing involved, theyre welcomed guests that side.

I walked round to see where Specky was and shove her back homeward, but she was no where to be found initially. Then I hear a cluck cluck clucking coming from the reeds near next doors pond... And there she was in her self made nest sat on 6 eggs and delivering another!!!!

I let her finish, told her off and sent her home - then got my eggs (7 now).

I chuckled all day about it but also had lots of questions...

    * Is this why George and Lynne (neighbours) love my gals..lol
    * How long as she been sharing her eggs with the neighbours?
    * Why the heck did i bother with the beautiful nest boxes i provided?

Anyhow, let them out this morning, and the little bugger did it again...
So spoke to George and explained, he laughed for 10 mins and then begged me to let her continue to drop him an egg a day..lol

So our new short term arrangement is what Specky lays there he can keep as payment for lodgings - I also gave him half a dozen freshly laid as down payment....

I can only say how much joy these little adventurers give me, every day a new amusement...
When all the world is moving too fast, sit in the garden and watch it whizz past... The good life..

I once found a nest with 36 eggs in! I had been getting 4 eggs a day in the nest box from 6 hens, so it can't have been more than 2 laying away, and probably only the one......
Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.
