hohum, just wondering if there's a connection between what the girls are (or arn't ) eating and the fact that Violette layed a softee today and scarlet a really odd smally ridgey egg that seemed flattish one side? perfect eggs all the time they were in the run, am careful not to let them out till lunchtime which obliges them to eat their layers pellets first, any ideas?

You'll be surprised at the ranges of shape, size and colour eggs a Chook will lay! Nearly all mine are all moulting, so the few I'm getting are thin shelled and odd shaped. I expect they'll get back to normal when they're more settled.
You could try a little Poultry spice in their food for a week to help perk them up, or some Limestone Flour if the shells are thin. All the best - Glutton 4 Punishment
